We're a new local chapter of the Green Party of NY State made up of former members of the Capital District Greens.

MICROCHIP PLANT ALERT!

Earlier this year we organized a coalition of environmental groups, neighborhood associations and RPI students to review the Draft Supplemental Generic Environmental Impact Statement (DSGEIS), and enter comments, regarding a proposed microchip fabrication plant, or Chip Fab. We launched a media campaign (press releases, letter to the Editor, etc.) and organized a public forum which was well attended. People were impressed by the ton of research we had done and left the forum convinced they didn't want a Chip Fab in their town. Presently we are reviewing a lengthy report written by a team of RPI students. It will be sent to the lead agency conducting the DSGEIS (the Town of N. Greenbush), to the media and made available to local organizations and residents. We are also continuing our efforts to inform the public and organize local residents.

Microchip plants are nasty. They pollute air, water and soil, kill workers, devastate our environment and are subsidized at taxpayers' expense. Then they leave town. If one is proposed for your town (check http://www.seminy.com/sites), contact us. We will provide you with useful information and assistance.
